Digital License – Guardian of the Seastacks

The Oregon coastline is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and geographically diverse shores in the country. The Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor, which stretches between the towns of Brookings and Gold Beach, boasts the most picturesque portion of the coast. This area is known for its impressive sea stacks, natural arches, and rugged beaches, where visitors can witness waterfalls cascading down onto the beach, sea caves lined with anemones and starfish, and a fraction of the crowds present at other locations along the coast.

One of the most secluded and beautiful spots in the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor is the Secret Beach, which is appropriately named due to its location down steep and rough trails secluded from the Highway. To access the northernmost part of the beach, visitors must scramble down some rocks next to a waterfall, while the southern section of the beach can be explored at lower tides when the chokepoint between two large rocks is open. During very low tides, visitors can explore the pools at the far south end of the beach.

The beach itself is a stunning stretch of fine-grained sand surrounded by cliffs sculpted by the ocean. It is protected by a series of huge sea stacks, which help to shield it from strong winds and waves, allowing visitors to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The beach is a tranquil and secluded spot with few visitors each year. Keep in mind that it can only be accessed during low tide.
