Half Dome Viewpoint

Half Dome is my most cherished landmark in Yosemite Valley National Park. I have captured its grandeur from Glacier Point, the Valley Floor, the North Dome, various bridges, and meadows during sunrise and sunset and across all seasons. I have completed the hike to the summit of Half Dome five times.

A particularly beloved view of Half Dome is the one from a lookout on Big Oak Flat Road en route to Tioga Road. Positioned at an elevation similar to Half Dome’s, it feels as though you are exchanging glances across the Valley, with Half Dome cradled between El Capitan and the successive mountain ranges. The scene transcends a mere sunrise capture, as the sky’s orange hues cast a subtle luminescence on the foreground trees.
